I’ve been listening to Adrian’s music faithfully for a couple months and everyone that be around when I’m playing his music when we be smoking and kicking it they all become fans as well. Shortly discovering his music for my self, I randomly happen to catch a show of his during SXSW in Austin. Unfortunately I didn’t catch his whole set, but I was able to witness an epic performance with Adrien Younge and his band play with Bilal.

When it comes to great music, I think about music that stands the test of time, music that touch people souls, music that people all over the world can relate to and enjoy, and not many black artists are creating that these days although we do have a few including one person in particular that most black people don’t know about but they have heard his music and that is Adrian Younge. His music is truly  a renaissance in its own right.
Adrian Younge is much like a modern day Isaac Hayes is a true composer of our generation. His music is nothing like what anyone else is doing these days and sounds like it will fit perfect the golden ages of black music during the 1970’s I mean he produced a soundtrack for Black Dynamite which give you an idea what his sound is like.
I am a hip-hop head so I first got hip to him when a friend of mine made a playlist full of original songs sampled by hip-hop records and the track “Sirens” once of them. Sirens is the original to Jay-Z’s Picasso Baby, which is really dope, but when you here the original then you’re gonna see that they mine as well just used the original whole track and you should be amazed that somebody can compose something like that from scratch using live instruments. So after hearing that I was hooked… I listened to his whole album “Something About April” over, and over, and it is a modern day classic and would’ve been a classic even if it came out in the 70’s.  You will hear another original song that was sampled for another track on Magna Carter the song “Heavens.” If you are a real hip-hop fan then you will love the fact that he also produced the entire Ghost Face Killah’s album “12 Reasons To Die” which to me is a Hip-hop classic, will talk more about that later, and you will never hear anything like it in any hip-hop album that comes out these days.
Check out the music posted here and add Adrian Younge to your Spotify playlist.
